Kagoshima’s abundant natural
and cultural charms
Kagoshima Prefecture is positioned at the southwest corner of the Japanese mainland and enjoys a temperate to subtropical climate. Average temperatures are high compared to the rest of the country, resulting in abundant warm weather.About 28% of the prefecture’s total land area belongs to its numerous islands—among them Tanegashima, Yakushima, and the Amami Islands. These outlying areas offer an abundance of natural beauty, complete with rare animals and breathtaking scenery.
The Kirishima volcanic zone runs north to south across the center of Kagoshima, and is dotted with eleven active volcanoes from Kirishima in the north to the Tokara Islands in the southern seas. All this geological activity makes for abundant hot springs, which you can enjoy throughout the area.
No matter where you go in Kagoshima City, you’re likely to catch a glimpse of Sakurajima, which stands as a symbol of the area.
Nakahara Bessou
The Nakahara Bessou building was completely overhauled in 2014 to make “safety and reliability” a core feature of the hotel. These renovations included retrofit work to make the structure more earthquake-resistant, and having passed rigorous national standards, now offers guests complete peace of mind.
We also created a clean airspace throughout our smoke-free hotel (with the exception of designated smoking areas).

Our facilities underwent a major renovation in 2014 to make them more earthquake and fire resistant. We are committed to protecting our guests from harm in the event of a disaster or emergency.
We also went to a smoke-free facility to create a cleaner and more comfortable space for everyone.(Designated smoking areas are still available.)

Experience a naturally flowing hot spring right in the heart of the city.
Our hot spring sodium chloride baths are filled with 100% free-flowing natural water from 800 meters below ground, never heated or diluted. Their distinctive reddish-brown color comes from the rich iron content.

Sea bream rice in dashi broth
Get a generous portion of the freshest sea bream caught in Kinko Bay, paired with our delicious housemade sesame sauce and dashi broth. Comes with four toppings (green onion, wasabi, arare rice crackers, and shaved nori seaweed) that you can add as desired.

Getting here
Take a limousine bus from Kagoshima Airport bound for Kagoshima City and get off at the Tenmonkan bus stop. The hotel is about a five-minute walk from there.
Take the bus bound for Kagoshima Station from the east exit bus terminal at JR Kagoshima Chuo Station and get off at the Tenmonkan bus stop. The hotel is about a five-minute walk from there.
Go out of the east exit at JR Kagoshima Chuo Station and get on the #2 streetcar for Kagoshima Station. Get off at the Tenmonkan Street (Tenmonkandori) stop. The hotel is about a five-minute walk from there.
